Mok Shoes

Two engineers who overthink footwear

We are Andy and Jay. We write software for a living and argue about menswear the rest of the time.

Mok started the way most side projects do: we wanted a specific shoe, we could not find it, and we were annoying enough about it to go make one. Something you can wear to a wedding, to the trail, and to a Tuesday. Built well enough to keep. Interesting enough that someone asks about it.

Andy Baxter

Andy Baxter

Co-founder

Software engineer by trade, which mostly means Andy treats a shoe like a system: what breaks first, what wears wrong, what nobody thought about on the fifth wear. He is the reason the Surfer went through as many sole revisions as it did.

Owns more bow ties than any engineer reasonably needs.

Jay Hamilton

Jay Hamilton

Co-founder

The other half of the argument. Jay pushes every design toward the version with more character, then wears it hard enough to find out whether the character survives. If a colorway made it to production, he lost or won a debate about it.

Flannel is not a phase.

What we build for

Practical

One pair should cover most of your week. If a shoe only works with one outfit, we did not finish designing it.

Durable

Full-grain leather, real suede, hand-stitched moc toes. Materials that look better at year three than they did on day one.

Flashy, not campy

A gum sole, a brass eyelet, a colorway nobody else is running. Enough to get noticed, never enough to wear you instead.
